The Ankh represents the concept of Eternal life, and it used to identify certain figures as gods in ancient Egyptian artwork.

The symbol is an Egyptian hieroglyph for "life" or "breath of life" (`nh = ankh) and, as the Egyptians believed that one's earthly journey was only part of an eternal life, the ankh symbolizes both mortal existence and the afterlife.
Throughout ancient Egypt the ankh was shown as a staff or 'djed' column. The djed column represented strength and stability and was thought to be a symbol for Osiris.

Since it meant the Key of life, it was believed to bring Good luck to the owner.

The Ankh symbolizes the many aspects of life, including physical life, eternal life, immortality, death, and reincarnation. The symbol is a teardrop-shaped hoop with a cross connected directly below it, to represent the sun making its path upward and over the horizon.
